SEO and its Simple Meaning

SEO photo

Most people would give me a quizzical look whenever I mention that I am involved in SEO work.

It’s the kind of “What in the world…” look that could get you excited and make you stammer, not because you have nothing to say but because you have lots of information to share.

Worst, for all the multiple facts and facets of SEO available, one can’t help but be speechless, just like a PC that “hangs” whenever it has spent much time trying to process the rush of information.

Good thing Google doesn’t choke on the volume of information that would line up the search engine’s pages when you type “SEO” into the search box.

Whenever I am given that quizzical look or asked upfront “What in the world is SEO?”, I would usually evaluate my answer.

I would take time assessing whether or not my answer would illumine the “quizzer” or it might cause his/her understanding of SEO to progress from mystery to misery.

Simple meaning of SEO

Wikipedia simply defines SEO or search engine optimization as “the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results.”

I read from a site engaged in online retailing his meaning of SEO, which stated that SEO is gaining the top search in search engine pages without paying for advertisement.

The author might be referring to online advertising like in Google Adwords, Yahoo Advertising Solutions, Microsoft Advertising and other independent pay per click campaigns.

By employing sound and proven SEO techniques, a website owner need not spend much on paid online advertising.

SEO builds and strengthens virtual community

SEO fulfills the real meaning of internet because it enhances the users’ interaction, connection, and sharing. These great human values are achieved when search engine optimization techniques are applied on the website.

Because linking with related and authority internet sites plays a major role in SEO success, the effort to achieve number one in search engine pages is never a solitary and isolated quest. The site that has excellent link quality avails much.

The quality of your website contents, which entails writing compelling articles and presented in easily understood diction, would certainly be a key factor towards SEO success.

Nice post. I learn something more challenging on different blogs everyday. It will always be stimulating to read content from other writers and practice a little something from their store. I’d prefer to use some with the content on my blog whether you don’t mind. Naturally I’ll give you a link on your web blog. Thanks for sharing.

    Now you’re talking, TJ! LOL!!!
I am one person who does not hesitate to do research if I do not understand or hit by a word or acronym that I do not understand. So, when I saw “SEO,” I said, “what’s he talking about?” And I thought, golly, he should know better than throw a word out there before writing out the actual words and then add the abbreviation.
Anyhow, thank you for clarifying! Now I understand but I have to learn how to apply SEO! I have so much to learn and learn I must do.
    Nice work!

Hi MM, this blog aims to enable you to apply SEO on your writing and site. I’m sure my SEO DIARY would be able to help you. I will do my best to write posts that give details about my actual SEO experience.

You have the gift of writing and that is why, I persist in encouraging you to start your own blog. You could blog about your many interests, such as your jewelry business, garden and flowers, humanitarian efforts, and many more.

I learned about search engine optimization in 2009. Like you (and others), I thought SEO was a very technical term and system that only an Information Technologist or website savvy could do.

I was wrong. I learned that SEO is more of online writing and this understanding heightened my interest and allowed me to establish Online Writing Niche, which encompasses SEO writing and other applications.
